Underwater Photography

Underwater photography is such an interesting and entertaining thing that many people loves to do while vacations besides other professional underwater photographers, some people think it’s a tough work, but we’ll preview some tips which is going to ease this process for you an let you enjoy underwater photography charm.

First of all, you have to think of what kind of camera you’re going to use, if it’s a waterproof camera, or a normal camera which you’ll have to buy it a plastic housing to prevent water from spoiling it, and such housings are available everywhere as well as waterproof compact cameras which are designed to resist water and some certain water depths pressure.

Prepare everything before you get into the water, in case your camera is in a waterproof housing, because it’s so hard to work it this way and not miss your desired photo, so you have to prepare the lens, and it’s better to be a wide-angle lens or a fisheye lens, prepare your battery to be fully charged to prevent losing it underwater and then it’s going to be hard and time wasting to get back to surface to change the battery.

Set your camera on the macro mode which enables you to take close up and clear photos in the water which makes photos look unclear without the macro setting on, also the macro makes colors look more radiant because without it colors looks pale.

Set your camera’s flash for more radiant colors and brightened photos but when using it try to be close to the object because if you shoot far from it any tiny floating things will afflict the photo and the main object won’t appear clearly.

Set your camera’s white balance setting manually to avoid the blue and green colors which makes colors look pale and brightens the color of sea water in a long depth.

Take care of the weather status before starting to shoot, such as windy days with high choppy waves, because it flips sea sand and mosses which will prevent you from taking the clear accurate photo you need, another tip for you, don’t get too close to objects because water makes objects appear as close and large as could, so just set a little distant between you and the object so that your photo gets the whole object and don’t become blurry.

Also before you start shooting, get more knowledge about the kind of creatures you’re going to photograph in the sea, learn well about them and how they behave towards each others and towards humans in order to plan how you’re going to shoot them and which positions are best for them last tip for a professional underwater photographing, try to get the background clear as can be, away from any distracting elements, so you better shoot from a low angle, so that the object only appear in the photo.
